Hi everybody!

This is what we did last Thursday. Please remember that corrections for exercises will be posted here from now on (see below)

CONDITIONALS CHART 


Type

Type 0
(general truth)
If + Present Simple
Present simple
They are used to express something, which is always true. We can use when (= whenever) instead of if
I.e: If/when it rains, the roads get slippery.
Type 1/ First Conditional
(real present)
If+ P.simple
Future (will)
They are used to express real or very probable situations in the present or future.
I.e: If we work hard, we’ll finish the Project on time.
Type 2/ Second Conditional
(unreal present)
If+ Past Simple or past continuous
Would/could/might + infinitive (without to)
They are used to express imaginary situations which are contrary to facts in the present and, therefore, are unlikely to happen in the present or future. They are also used to give advice.
I.e: If I didn’t have to work such long hours, I wouldn’t be so tired.
Type 3/ Third Conditionals
(unreal past)
If + past perfect/ past perfect continuous
Would/could/ might+ have + past participle
They are used to express imaginary situations which are contrary to facts in the past. They are also used to express regrets or criticism.
i. e: If I had been more careful, I wouldn’t have made such a big mistake.
