We were discussing today Nelson Mandela's legacy and story. Here are some of his most known quotes:
No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.
The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.
Do you know any other you would like to share? Please feel free to comment and discuss with us.
Also as we agreed, here you have the Poem that appears in Invictus. Just remember it is not Mandela's, it was written by William Ernest Henley, a victorian author.
“Invictus” by
William Ernest Henley
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
Rest in Peace, Madiba, mankind will never be able to thank you enough.
Hope you are not struggling with this magnificent windy weather!!!

As we were talking yesterday about recycling one of the aspects we mentioned was the lack of encouraging activities or actions to create the habit of recycling in citizens.
What do you think about this? Is it a good idea to get kids (or even college kids) to become aware of the importance of recycling?
Here is a small guide of what was going on in class last Tuesday.
- Opinion Essays were handed in (last day to hand in: THURSDAY 21) Remember to give them to a classmate or send them via email, in case of not attending lessons.
- Passive voice exercise correction (Odd jobs activity).
- Ana Carmen's presentation about The Holy Week in Seville.
- Weather reports (only TWO students brought a copy of a real weather report!, remember at this stage, it is very important that you get in contact with real language, so do NOT forget to do it, especially if you are told to do so!) Small revision of weather vocabulary.
8B Recycle your rubbish.
- Vocabulary: Containers page 72: 1 a, b, c. Check page 146.
Finally, I got some time to set up this blog. As I said in class, the main objective of it is to become a tool of reference in case of not attending classes, as well as a tool where we can share interesting resources. Although it feels like we have long months ahead, time flies, so let's make the most of it!
